Greenlandic mythology: the Qivittoq


In Greenlandic mythology the qivittoq is known as "the wandering spirit", a person who has decided to abandon society. The person loses all the memories of their former life and becomes immortal. They are often malevolent creatures and attack people. They can shapeshift and have supernatural speed/strength as well. For a qivittoq to gain magical powers, the person has to freeze to death over the course of five days."
