In 1959, Wells was crowned Miss Nevada and represented her state in the Miss America 1960 pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

In Hollywood, Wells made her debut on ABC's The Roaring 20s and the movie The New Interns and was cast in episodes of such television series as The Joey Bishop Show, 77 Sunset Strip, Cheyenne, Maverick, and Bonanza.

Wells appeared as a guest star on Wagon Train, Tales of Wells Fargo, 87th Precinct, Surfside 6, Hawaiian Eye, Ripcord, The Everglades, The Detectives, Bonanza, It's a Man's World, Channing, Laramie, Burke's Law, The Invaders, The Wild Wild West, The F.B.I., Vega$, The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, Matt Houston, ALF, Herman's Head, Three Sisters, Pastor Greg, and Roseanne.

In June 2020, Wells' manager revealed in court documents that she was suffering from dementia.

Wells died from COVID-19-related causes at age 82 in Los Angeles on December 30, 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic in California. The week prior to her death, she had a Happy New Year video prerecorded to be released on the holiday.

Johnny Brown – RIP

John Brown (June 11, 1937 – March 2, 2022) was an American actor and singer. He was most famous for his role as building superintendent Nathan Bookman on the 1970s CBS sitcom, Good Times. Brown portrayed Bookman until the series was cancelled in 1979.

Brown died in Los Angeles on March 2, 2022, at the age of 84. He collapsed shortly after leaving a doctor's appointment for his pacemaker and was pronounced dead when brought to the hospital.

 Don Knotts is no dummy, but he worked with one when he was a teenager. He started performing as a ventriloquist and comedian when he was in his early teens for his school mates and at church functions. Thinking that his ventriloquism act would take him to the big time he left West Virginia to go to New York City, when his dreams didn't pan out he returned home before joining Army during World War II.

Knotts' career found the boost he was looking for in the Pacific Islands of all places. Most of his time in the war was spent working with the G.I. variety show Stars and Gripes where he performed with Danny until 1946. Supposedly, Knotts threw Danny overboard after their final performance.

Thelma Lou...

Thelma Lou, or Thel by boyfriend Barney Fife, was a character on the American television sitcom The Andy Griffith Show (1960-1968). The character appeared in 26 episodes, starting with the first-season episode, "Cyrano Andy". Thelma Lou was portrayed by Betty Lynn.

Thelma Lou lived in the community of Mayberry, North Carolina. She was Mayberry Deputy Sheriff Barney Fife's love interest. Thelma Lou appeared as a semiregular character in The Andy Griffith Show from 1961 until 1966, when the character was dropped from the show following the departure of Don Knotts and his Barney Fife character. She appeared in the 1986 reunion made-for-television movie, Return to Mayberry.

Betty Lynn was born in Kansas City, Missouri on August 29, 1926.

She never married, although she stated she was once engaged.  By July 2019, she was residing in Mount Airy and she continued to make monthly personal appearances in town at the Andy Griffith Museum, signing autographs and meeting with her fans.  Betty Lynn once commented, "The longer I live here, the more I see things [Griffith] took from his hometown."

Lynn died after a brief illness on October 16, 2021, at the age of 95. At the time of her death, she was working on her autobiography, which is set to be released posthumously.

Hugh Brannum (Mr. Green Jeans)

Hugh Brannum (January 5, 1910 – April 19, 1987) was an American vocalist, arranger, composer, and actor best known for his role as Mr. Green Jeans on the children's television show Captain Kangaroo. During his days with Fred Waring and his Pennsylvanians, he used his childhood nickname "Lumpy".

Mr. Green Jeans earned his moniker from his distinctive apparel, a pair of farmer's overalls (later, jeans and a denim jacket) in his signature green (although, since the show was broadcast in black-and-white for much of its run, this was lost on viewers). He was a talented and inquisitive handyman who provided assistance at the Treasure House. He frequently visited the Captain with the latest addition to his menagerie of zoo animals.

Aside from Mr. Green Jeans, Brannum played a number of characters on Captain Kangaroo from 1955 to 1984, including the Professor, Greeno the Clown, the New Old Folk Singer, and Mr. Bainter the Painter. His role as Mr. Green Jeans was partly based on stories about a farm kid named "Little Orley" that he told with the Fred Waring orchestra, on the radio and on 78-rpm records under the pseudonym "Uncle Lumpy". According to Bob Keeshan, Mr. Green Jeans was an extension of Brannum's real personality. The shows were performed before a live audience. During one episode of Captain Kangaroo, a lion cub bit Brannum's finger and drew blood. Brannum stuck his bleeding hand into his pocket and never broke character for the remainder of the episode.

A long-running but incorrect rumor claims Brannum was the father of musician Frank Zappa, apparently because of a Zappa composition titled "Son of Mr. Green Genes" on his 1969 album, Hot Rats.

Victory roll hairstyle

Victory rolls were most popular during 1940 to 1945, during World War II. Some theories exist as to the style's origin, the most commonly repeated of which are linked with World War II and the postwar movements. One theory associates victory rolls with the aviation aerobatic maneuver of planes that would spin horizontally as a sign of victory or celebration, as the style was supposed to resemble the movements of the air crafts. Another associates it with the allies' victory over Germany, as it was symbolic of the women at home helping their loved ones fighting overseas.

The style was popularized by film actresses such as Ingrid Bergman and the majority wore this style to frame their face so it fit the beauty standards of the day. The style could be worn with two victory rolls or with a single roll. After 1945 the popularity of the victory rolls declined as the style was now to have the top of the head smooth, however some women still wore victory rolls on the sides of their head.

Johnny Crawford

John Ernest Crawford (March 26, 1946 – April 29, 2021) was an American actor, singer, and musician. He first performed before a national audience as a Mouseketeer. At age 12, Crawford rose to prominence playing Mark McCain in the ABC Western series The Rifleman, which he was nominated for an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor at age 13.
