Barred owls

OMG. There are---what sounds like---two pairs of barred owls filling up the night with their loud "Who cooks for you?" calls. I love it.

CUTE AUTISM

The concept of “cute autism” often manifests in media representation, particularly in shows like *The Big Bang Theory*, where characters display traits associated with autism, such as social awkwardness, rigid routines, or intense focus on specific interests, in a way that is played for humor and endearment. While these portrayals can increase visibility and familiarity with certain aspects of autism, they tend to oversimplify and romanticize the condition. By focusing primarily on the “cute” or humorous aspects, such media representations can obscure the real challenges autistic individuals face, leading to a superficial understanding that doesn’t fully capture the diversity of the autistic experience. --atypical.erin

Bill Gets Ready for Halloween

 Hi Teresa!

I hope you're doing a lot better.

I've been getting ready for Halloween.  The skullberries are getting ripe,
which is always a good sign, and Chloe has made friends with a
charming young hairantula (the poor thing couldn't live up to its name
until Chloe donated the leftover fur from her brushings).  It's a cute little
devil and it wants to be called Loose Fur.  I looked into my newly-made
crystal ball and realized I'd better make a warning sign for the
trick-or-treaters.

Thanks, Bill. Do you give out the good candy bars?

Hairless guinea pigs

I was at PetCo recently and discovered some odd news regarding the hairless guinea pigs in their store. Apparently, PetCo only carries hairless females (at least at this location.) It seems that some parents complained that the junk dangling from the hairless male variety is too large and too shocking for tender young eyes. I find this puzzling... since many pet owners often bring their large male dogs into the store with junk the size of rearview mirror fuzzy dice. I guess seeing the genitalia of hairless guinea pigs isn't comparable to a Great Dane scooby-doing around the store.

I can understand separating males from females in the store (to avoid mating), but banning male hairless guinea pigs from the store because they have big cojones just seems silly. BTW, hairless guinea pigs cost $199, whereas hairy guinea pigs are around $24.
