Even when a FA is lamefully "piquant," it's labeled a "COMICS I DON'T UNDERSTAND." Good on Kilby for keeping his word to never ever comment on "Frog Applause" again. We're proud of you, dude, for being able to keep your word.
As a rule, I'm opposed to explaining (even the obvious), but it's version 1. The guy is indeed waking up the city to let everyone know he can't sleep and perhap they shouldn't get any sleep either. As for the last panel not making sense... the guy tried using his normal voice in the first panel, but no one woke up until he got louder. Rethinking things, perhaps I should have included a middle panel with a few lights turned on as a response to his first I-can't-sleep announcement. That might have even justified the double exclamation marks in the last panel. Yeah, rethinking things... I'd include a middle panel now with a few lights.
BTW, somebody must have liked and understood this particular "Frog Applause" because I received a print request from GoComics for it. Thanks, Christopher! I hope you enjoy your print.
