Vaccine

I'm due for my second dose of the Pfizer vaccine tomorrow (Thursday, March 25.) I've been told to expect some mild symptoms following this dose, perhaps a low-grade fever or some nausea. My mother, who is 84 today, will be receiving her first dose of Moderna tomorrow. I think the second dose for Moderna is four weeks, whereas the second dose for Pfizer is three weeks. Who among my readers has been fully or partially vaccinated? I'm aware that I have a few first responders and medical providers among my lameship, so I know they've already received their shots.

Wish me luck!

Teresa

P.S. My brother insists on waiting for the Johnson shot.

Hi Teresa,

I haven’t gotten a vaccine. My parents have, to no ill effect.

I will probably only get one if I have to. I have had a history of allergies and severe allergic reactions, and the literature I have read about people reacting negatively in a severe manner, with a few deaths, have all been people with histories such as mine; so I am very hesitant.

Hi Teresa,
I received my second dose of Pfizer on March 19 and had no side effects.  Not even a sore arm, but my wife thinks it is because I'm a guy.  She had her second of Moderna on the same day last week, and had very bad vertigo 60 hours after the shot, but recovered in a couple hours.  She asked around and found another (guy) who had the same side effect in the same timeframe with Moderna.  Obviously there are others who did not have the same.  It just depends on each individual.  All those mentioned are all in their 60's.  Anyway....  Team Pfizer!!!

After some difficulty getting scheduled (the online login system here was pretty crazy) i had my first Pfizer shot last thursday, and will have the second 2 weeks from today. Had a sore shoulder for a couple of days , but no big deal. My wife had the Moderna through the school system where she works. Her second shot knocked her out for a couple of days, but she was soon completely over that.
Here's hoping these vaccines do the trick. i doubt that we'll be back to anything like "normal" this year and possibly next. With certain attitudes some have expressed, i don't hold much hope we'll be out of the woods for quite some time- you may have seen recent exchanges in the Frog Applause comments.
My sister has been locked down in her California retirement community for a year- they've finally gotten everyone vaxxed there and there's a bit more freedom of movement, but they lost -IIRC-18 residents.

Good to hear you & your mother are on your ways to getting vaccinated!

Stay well! See you in the funny papers.
