Orange Church of God

The Orange Church of God-Embassy of Grace is a Pentecostal place of worship located in Orange, Texas.  The church has been in business for over 20 years and identifies with the Church of God denomination.

Even though the church is real, this sign appears to be AI-generated. (Thanks @JungleGeorge for raising this possibility and prompting me to do some more research.) I am embarrassed to be fooled, but I won't erase this post for that reason. I think it is important to show that we all make mistakes and we should face up to them...

Odd "Not Allowed" Signs in German Museum

This photo is from Miniatur Wunderland in Germany, the word's largest model railway system (the largest collection of small things).  The photo shows two odd "not allowed" signs next to a display window.  The top one has usually been interpreted as "don't throw bottles through the windows".  The bottom one is stranger, and these are some of the guesses posted on social media:

• No gummy worm juggling
• Don't dance in the rain of sausages
• Don't strike this pose if Cheetos are floating in the air
I suppose this might make some sense if snacks and bottled beverages are available in the Wunderland.

Hell, Michigan

Thanks, Luke!

There is a place named Hell in the United States, but it is technically an unincorporated community rather than an incorporated city.

Located in Livingston County, Michigan, within Putnam Township, it is the only settlement in the U.S. with this name. Key details include:

  • Location: Approximately 15 miles northwest of Ann Arbor and three miles southwest of Pinckney.

  • Status: As an unincorporated community, it has no legally defined boundaries or official population statistics, though it has a local post office that singes postcards with the stamp "Been through Hell."
  • History: The name became official on October 13, 1841, with legends attributing it to early settlers finding the swampy conditions "hellish" or a mishearing of the German phrase "so schön hell" (so beautifully bright).

  • Tourism: The town actively embraces its name with devil-themed decor, businesses like the Hell Saloon and Screams Souvenirs from Hell, and is known for the phrase "Hell freezes over" when Michigan winters are particularly cold.

Take the fork ahead...

I wanted to say that there was a fork in the road, but the fork isn't really in the road.

Urine spray...

UltraLameFest2 is always sending me great ideas. Again, my readers know me so well that it's scary.

There is no poop fairy!

I was able to find an angle where I could capture this sign AND a pink "treasure" bag, containing a full load from someone's precious dire wolf, hung on a projecting stick next to the trail.
